Recipe Swap

About a month ago I signed up for a recipe swap on Instagram hosted by Ashley Marie at Chevron Stitches. I do love cooking and baking so I knew this would be fun. And it was, especially since I received my first international swap partner, Torrie at Free Spirit Reigns. She sent me 2 recipes, Stuffed Pasta Shells, and White Chocolate Raspberry Scones.

So tonight I prepare the scones. I've never made this before but I have made biscotti so, how different could it be?!?!  VERY!  Kinda.

The ingredients are:
1/2 c 2% or whole milk
1egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. unsalted butter,
        cold & cubed
3 tbsp white sugar
1 c. frzn raspberries
1 c. white choc chips

Preheat oven to 450ยบ F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl.

Rub or cut the butter into the flour mixture until there is no piece bigger than a pea.
Add the sugar, raspberries, and chocolate stirring to combine and coat.

(at this point, I did start using the spoon and not the beaters)

Pour in the wet mix, stirring to combine.

(this is where whatever went wrong, went wrong)

Turn out dough onto floured surface and knead until it comes together (should be sort of crumbly).
(I could not get it crumbly)

Cut into 12 pieces and bake for 10min, or until lightly golden brown.

Lets just say, I had to use the timer method, not the golden brown method. Something purple can not turn golden brown. They totally taste GREAT!!! Not too sweet, which is perfect for me. They are just so ugly. :(
I bake. I bake a lot and I am actually pretty good at it (those posts will come later). But I could not figure out what I did wrong with these scones. At least they are delicious!!!

Thank you to Ashley Marie at chevronstitches for putting all of this together (hope I did it all correctly). And thanks to my sweet swap partner, Torrie at FreepiritReigns for the great recipes. I cant wait to try the stuffed shells!!!
